Please see responses to the referrals from Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Council

Meeting below.



BAKER HIGH SCHOOL:



Have the staff to get together with Mr. Miles Caggins of the Muscogee County

School District and allow him to come to the Council and make a presentation as

to the status of the property of the old Baker High School. (Request of

Councilor Woodson)



Response ? This item has been added to our list for a future Council Work

Session.





SPECIAL EXCEPTION USE:



Have the staff to look at the definition of clubs and lodges in the UDO to

delineate between clubs and private clubs as it relates to the request to amend

the text of the Unified Development Ordinance to allow clubs or lodges in the

GC (General Commercial) and LMI (Light Manufacturing/Industrial) zoning

districts as a Special Exception Use. (Request of Mayor Pro Tem Rodgers)



Response ? Staff will research this concern and provide a response.





CLUBS:



Have the staff to schedule a presentation at a Council Work Session to provide

some information as it relates to the Bradley Theater and to look at what we

did to allow them to have teens enter this club. Also, we need to look at the

ordinance.

Response ? This issue is scheduled for discussion at the October 24, 2006,

Council Work Session.







EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVES:



Have the staff to provide a list of those persons who were actively working and

able to document that they were enrolled in college and working towards a

bachelors or masters degree that has been filed with the Human Resources

Department. Also, have the staff to provide a breakdown of the starting pay

for public safety personnel. (Request of Councilor Allen)

COLUMBUS DAY:



At some point in the future, he would ask the Administration to consider making

Columbus Day a regular holiday for the Columbus Consolidated Government.

Response ? We will add Columbus Day Holiday on the list for consideration at

the FY08 Budget Review Sessions.





GARDINER DRIVE:



Have the staff to give the history of this property on Gardiner Drive and

provide information as to how did we acquire this property. (Request of Mayor

Pro Tem Rodgers)



Response ? Staff will research this referral and provide a response.





LUCKY CLUB:



Have the staff to consider going ahead and doing the cleanup of this building

and then bill the owner for the cleanup, as he has been given ample time to do

the cleanup. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

29TH STREET RECREATION CENTER:



Have the staff to provide an update on the break-in of the 29th Street

Recreation Center, which took place back in September and give an update as to

why it is taking a long period of time to complete the repairs; and also

determine when will the center be reopened. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

VICTORY DRIVE:



Have the staff to send Code & Enforcement out to take a look at a building,

which appears to be some type of garage that is located on Victory Drive, and

is in derelict condition, and let?s give notice to the owner to come into

compliance with our ordinance. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

GRAFFITI:



Have the staff to get together with her and to provide information as to what

we are doing to assist businesses when they experience problems with graffiti

on their property. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

AMBER DRIVE:



Have the staff to have someone to go out and take a look at the old store and

service station located on Amber Drive, which has been vacant for over 20 years

and is a terrible eyesore in the community and has not been kept up. (Request

of Councilor Turner Pugh)
