SUBJECT: Amendment to Old School Sports lease agreement



INITIATED BY: Columbus Civic Center Department







Recommendation: Approval is requested to amend the current lease

agreement for Old School Sports changing the name to the Columbus Indoor

Football League.



Background: The Columbus Indoor Football League located in Columbus

started in 2007. The league provides an alternative recreational source for

the City of Columbus in the form of Arena Football. Old School Sports is now

under the ownership of local owners. The league will now be known as the

Columbus Indoor Football League.



Analysis: The Columbus Indoor Football League plays a seven (7) game season

between April and August. These games provide little conflict with other

entertainment and events. In addition to providing an alternative recreational

source for Columbus and he region, these games provide revenue to the Columbus

Civic Center.



Financial Considerations: Financial consideration will remain the same as

outlined in the current lease agreement.



Legal Considerations: This action requires Council approval.



Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize the City Manager to approve the amendment

to Resolution 331-06 changing the league name from Old School Sports to the

Columbus Indoor Football League.

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 331-06. OLD SCHOOL SPORTS HAS SOLD THE

LEAGUE TO NEW OWNERS. THE LEAGUES NEW NAME IS THE COLUMBUS LIONS INDOOR

FOOTBALL LEAGUE. THE NEW OWNERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS, the World Indoor Football League has agreed to provide professional

indoor football to the consolidated government through the lessee, Columbus

Indoor Football League; and,



WHEREAS, Columbus Indoor Football League shall uphold the current lease

agreement with the Columbus Civic Center.



NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to amend the

Resolution No. 331-06, for the provision of professional indoor football

through the Columbus Indoor Football League. The lease agreement shall be for

a term of one year with a three-year extension at the option of the lessee.



Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,

held on the _______day of _______________ 2007, and adopted at said meeting by

the affirmative vote of _______members of said Council.
