COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 31, 2006
TO THE CITY MANAGER:
HURRICANE KATRINA:
Have the staff to provide information and statistics from the operation of
the One Stop Shop that was setup to assist the residents of the Gulfport who
were affected by Hurricane Katrina and the collaboration between the City and
the American Red Cross, then let?s forward that information to the National
League of Cities. Also, send them information on our best practices in dealing
with emergencies. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

REQUESTS FOR WAIVERS OF PENALITIES & INTEREST:
In the future, if there is any prior knowledge of any matters as it
relates to requests for waivers of penalties and interests paid on taxes to
come before this Council that advance notice be given as much as possible.

In order to be pro-active and determine if we can minimize or correct
these problems in the future, can we possibly put a business telephone number
on the PT-61 Forms. (Request of Councilor Davis)

FUNDING FOR ROAD PROJECTS:
Have the staff to check with Governor Perdue on his budget, to determine
if there is funding set aside for road improvement projects and those projects
that have been delayed for several years. (Request of Councilor Woodson)
WHITTLESEY ROAD WIDENING:
Have the staff to provide a timeline as to when the right-of-way purchases
will begin for the Whittlesey Road widening project and when will we be making
contact with the residents.
