Subject Comprehensive Plan

Description Have the staff to contact Columbus State University for some

assistance with the Comprehensive Plan. (Request of Councilor Turner Pugh)

Let?s have the staff to meet with some of the other city officials that

have experienced similar growth or increase in troops at their military bases

due to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). Also, we may want to look into

having two or three members of Council to be a part of the meetings that will

be held on the Comprehensive Plan. (Request of Councilor Allen)

Also, provide a time line of when the information regarding the scope of

work for the Comprehensive Plan would be made available. (Request of Councilor

Allen)

Have the staff provide information on residential, commercial and retail

infill and how the City plans to manage that growth. Also, let?s have the

staff to coordinate with established areas to make sure that these areas remain

planned environments. Let?s have the staff recapture those blighted areas that

could be redeveloped and provide incentives for developers to return to the

core of the City to enhance the area. (Request of Councilor Davis)

Have the staff to provide an update on the Seven ?C?s? that identified

other communities that are experiencing similar growth challenges. (Request of

Councilor Woodson)

Have the staff to set up meetings with representatives from other

communities that have successfully implemented Comprehensive Plans that have

been revitalized neighborhoods for the purpose of providing a presentation.

(Request of Councilor Hunter)

When the staff begins to set up meetings regarding the Comprehensive Plan,

let?s make sure that the members of Council are notified in advance of the

meetings. (Request of Mayor Poydasheff)
