REFERRALS FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL

COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 16, 2009

TO THE CITY MANAGER:

PUBLIC DEFENDER?S CONTRACT:

Have the staff to check and determine whether or not there would be an

impact on the contract, if for some reason the other counties don?t come up

with their portion of the funding for the Public Defender?s agreement.

(Referral of Mayor Pro Tem Turner Pugh)

NCR:

Have the staff to make sure that the study that was done by the D. Abbott

Turner College of Business is put in the libraries, as well as other locations

Mayor Pro Tem Turner Pugh)

PARKING MANAGEMENT:

Let?s have someone to speak to other businesses in the area where their

employees are parking on the streets; and let see if we can come up with some

kind of program with some of these businesses. Also, let?s go back and research

this matter and see what we can come up with that could assist in lower the

percentage in the Parking Management Fund. (Referral of Councilor Woodson)

Although there may always be some kind of subsidization with respect to

the Parking Management Fund, it is imperative for us to go back with all of our

management contracts and take another look at them to see if there is a way to

streamline and cut expenses. (Referral of Councilor Henderson)

Hopefully we could come up with a plan to look at a better way to deal

with this negative percentage as far as subsidizing or putting money into

parking garages. (Referral of Councilor Davis)

ROAD WORK:

Whenever the street crews are out doing roadwork on the City streets, we

need to make sure that someone from that work crew is out directing traffic.

UPDATE ON ROAD AT FT. BENNING:

Have the staff to provide additional information regarding the

construction of a road near the new Infantry Museum. (Referral of Councilor

PROPOSED TRUCK ROUTE SYSTEM;

Have the staff to consider holding a public hearing to allow citizens to

give their input with respect to the proposed changes of the truck route system

before coming back to the Council with the proposed routes. (Request of

Councilor McDaniel)

If a committee was formed, have the staff to provide information to this

Council showing when the Committee was formed and who is representing what

Council Districts on the Committee. (Referral of Mayor Pro Tem Turner Pugh.)

When the staff holds the Community meetings, let?s make sure that we have

members of our Public Safety personnel present who can talk to the citizens and

inform them what their options are from an enforcement standpoint, and what

they can do within the law, if they observe one of these trucks in their

neighborhood. (Referral of Councilor Henderson)

Have the staff to include in those Informational meetings, the businesses

that have their business locations in Industrial Parks or areas that are

accessed by 2-lane roads that correspond with neighborhoods. (Request of

Councilor Anthony)
