Memorandum
Date: November 3, 2006
To: Mayor Poydasheff
Council Members
From: Tiny B. Washington, CMC
Clerk of Council
Sub: Uptown Fa?ade Board Recommendations
On last week, Mayor Pro Tem Rodgers had questions regarding the
appointments to the Uptown Fa?ade Board, as to whether or not the Council made
these appointments or did the recommendations come from the Uptown Business
Association and Uptown Columbus.
Ordinance Number 87-138, which created the Uptown Fa?ade Board
states that there are nine (9) members serving on this board. One member shall
be a representative of the Historic Columbus Foundation, (2) two members shall
be representatives of Uptown Columbus and six (6) members shall be
representatives of Uptown Business Association. There are no at-large seats on
the board.
The ordinance is silent as to whether or not the members are recommended
by the Council or the respective organization; however, the normal practice has
been to submit a request to the respective organizations requesting their
nominations for the specified seats, as outlined in the ordinance; then the
Council would confirm the organizations? recommendations.
I have enclosed a copy of the ordinance creating this board for your
perusal.
Please advise if there are any questions.
