SUBJECT: Sheriff?s Office - FY12 Other Local Option Sales Tax

Reallocation



INITIATED BY: Sheriff?s Office







Recommendation: Approval is requested of a resolution reallocating $7,200 of

the FY12 Budget-Other Local Option Sales Tax for the Sheriff?s Office project

to modify and install jail access door locks/controllers and an extension to

the existing jail weather awning resulting from the new jail parking lot

construction (flood abatement) project.



Background: The FY12 Budget for the Other Local Option Sales Tax was

approved on June 21, 2011, which included $7,200 for the Sheriff?s Office other

projects. As part of the FY12 Budget, council approved specific personnel,

operating and capital outlay to be purchased.



Analysis: Under other projects, the Operations Bureau was budgeted $7,200 for

IAPRO ( Internal Affairs Professional series) software and the bids to make

security modifications and awning extension total approximately $6,808, leaving

a balance of $392.



Financial Considerations: The balance of the Operations Bureau IAPRO software

can be reallocated to another Other LOST purpose.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: The modifications and extension are

one time purchases with no reoccurring expenses.



Legal Considerations: Council approval required for reallocation of Other LOST

budget.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve a resolution reallocating $7,200 of the FY12

Budget-Other Local Option Sales Tax for the Sheriff?s Office from the

Operations Bureau IAPRO software to the Jail Bureau security access door

modification and awning extension.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REALLOCATING OF $7,200 OF THE FY12 BUDGET -OTHER LOCAL

OPTION SALES TAX FOR THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE PROJECTS TO MODIFY AND INSTALL JAIL

ACCESS DOOR LOCKS/CONTROLLERS AND FOR AN EXTENSION TO THE EXISTING JAIL WEATHER

AWNING RESULTING FROM THE NEW JAIL PARKING LOT CONSTRUCTION (FLOOD ABATEMENT)

PROJECT.

WHEREAS, Columbus Council approved the FY12 Operating Budget on June 21, 2011;

and,

WHEREAS, the FY12 Other Local Option Sales Tax budget for the Sheriff?s Office

included $7,200 for IAPRO software; and,

WHEREAS, the IAPRO software will be reallocated for jail modifications and

improvements resulting from new jail parking lot related construction, and,



WHEREAS, the Sheriff?s Office requests to reallocate the $7,200

balance from other Sheriff?s LOST projects to modify current security access

doors and extend the existing weather awning at the Sheriff?s Jail Bureau.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to reallocate $7,200 balance from

the FY12 Other Local Option Sales Tax Budget to the Sheriff?s Office for

modification of current security access doors and extend the existing weather

awning at the Sheriff's Jail Bureau.
