SUBJECT: Bike Shop Easement Request for the Columbus Fall Line

Trace



INITIATED BY: Planning Department





Recommendation: Approval is requested authorizing a 60 foot easement for

access for The Bike Shop, located at 3554 Hilton Avenue, to the Columbus Fall

Line Trace.



Background: The Bike Shop has recently opened a business at this address

to provide services to those citizens utilizing the Trace. In order to better

serve those utilizing the Trace, the business has requested a direct access

with a 60 foot easement across the trail.



Analysis: Authorizing this easement would provide a safe passage to this

property for those on the Trace. In providing this easement, the owners have

been made aware that they will need to provide and maintain a landscaped area

as shown on Exhibit "A".



Financial Considerations: There are no financial requirements to the City in

granting this easement. The owners will be responsible for the installation

and maintenance of a landscaped area along the Trace.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There are no projected annual fiscal

impact anticipated with this authorization of this easement.



Legal Considerations: The City Attorney has no objections to the granting of

this easement.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the resolution authorizing a 60 foot

easement for access for The Bike Shop, located at 3554 Hilton Avenue, to the

Columbus Fall Line Trace.



















A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN ACCESS AND

LANDSCAPING AGREEMENT WITH THE BIKE SHOP.

WHEREAS, the Bike Shop, located at 3554 Hilton Avenue has requested an easement

to access the Columbus Fall Line Trace from their adjacent property; and,

WHEREAS, the request would allow for a 60 foot wide easement for the purpose of

providing direct access to the Trace from the business property; and,

WHEREAS, the agreement would require that The Bike Shop be responsible for

installing and maintaining a landscaped area along the Trace as depicted in

Exhibit "A" as attached to this resolution.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That The Bike Shop, located at 3554 Hilton Avenue, is hereby granted a 60 foot

easement to the Columbus Fall Line Trace from their property as shown in the

attached Exhibit "A". The Bike Shop shall be responsible for installing and

maintaining a landscaped area along the Trace in accordance with the Unified

Development Ordinance as depicted in the same exhibit.
