A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Colonel Roy Plummer of Columbus is retiring as Director of Army
Instruction for the Muscogee County School District JROTC, where he has been
responsible for eight high school JROTC programs and four other county JROTC
programs;
WHEREAS, since 1998, he has worked tirelessly to create a formidable
district-level JROTC program which has grown from 400 cadets to a current
operating enrollment of 1200 cadets;
WHEREAS, under Colonel Plummer?s leadership, the Muscogee County School
District JROTC has earned GHSA State Rifle Championships, State- level awards
in Drill Team and Raider competitions and honorable recognition in the annual
JROTC Academic Bowl;
WHEREAS, Colonel Plummer has served as Senior Pastor, Founder and CEO of Faith
Tabernacle Community Church in Columbus since its inception in 1994;
WHEREAS, he also served as Chief of Chaplains of Fort Benning, Georgia prior to
retirement from his active duty Army career;
WHEREAS, Colonel Plummer also currently served as the Chaplain for Rotary
International District 6900 and has served on the boards of St. Francis
Hospital Foundation, Columbus Hospice, United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley,
Boy Scouts of America and the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce;
WHEREAS, he also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of
Counseling Graduate Studies at Columbus State University, he holds a BA degree
in Biblical Literature, Masters of Arts in Human Relations and Group Process
and Guidance and Counseling, a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Care and a
Doctorate in Divinity.
WHEREAS, Colonel Plummer?s accomplishment are worthy of special recognition by
this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Colonial Roy Plummer upon his
retirement as Director of Army Instruction for the Muscogee County School
District JROTC. Columbus deeply appreciates his service to our community, the
State of Georgia and the United States. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Colonel Roy Plummer.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
9th day of December, 2014, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
