A RESOLUTION

NO.__________







WHEREAS, the claims of the estate of Jaqueze Inez Harris and Jacqueline and

Kirk Harris, co-administrators and surviving parents, against the Consolidated

Government of Columbus, Georgia, arising from the incident of October 14, 2012,

have been fully investigated by Risk Management, the City Attorney?s Office and

litigation counsel;



WHEREAS, these officials recommend a full and final settlement of said claims,

including attorney?s fees, for a total sum of $500,000.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



We hereby authorize the City Attorney, Finance Director or their

representatives to make payment of $500,000 to settle any and all claims of the

estate of Jaqueze Inez Harris and Jacqueline and Kirk Harris, co-administrators

and surviving parents, including attorney?s fees, arising from the incident of

October 14, 2012. The City Attorney, Finance Director or their representatives

are authorized to execute all appropriate settlement documents to this effect.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia,

held the 23rd day of September, 2014 and adopted at said meeting by the

affirmative vote of _________ members of said Council.
