SUBJECT: Talbotton Road/Warms Spring Road Widening Project

Georgia Department of Transportation



INITIATED BY: Felton G. Grant, Right of Way Acquisition Coordinator







Recommendation: Approval is requested to execute a Document titled "Department

of Transportation Option for Right of Way" (attached) to be able to execute a

"Quit Claim Deed" with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for

property owned by the city located at 1708 Warm Springs Road for the Road

Widening Project # STP00-8016-00(003), PI# 350730.



Background: The GDOT proposes to let to construction as part of the State

Highway System, in the City of Columbus, Georgia, to improve and widen

Talbotton Road - Warm Springs Road/S.R. 982. The project is included in the

Transportation Improvement Program. Columbus, Georgia is requested by GDOT to

"Quit-Claim Deed" the necessary segment of certain City property located within

the limits of the proposed construction of the above mentioned project. The

attached Document titled "Department of Transportation Option for Right of Way"

has to be executed prior to the GDOT drawing up the Quit Claim. At that time

the Quit Claim Document will be sent to the City for execution,



Analysis: The execution of the Quit-Claim Deed is routine for this application

and is reciprocated by GDOT, many times.



Financial Considerations: This action will have no impact.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: This action will have no impact



Legal Considerations: The City Attorney agrees to this action.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the resolution authorizing the City Manager

to execute a Document titled "Department of Transportation Option for Right of

Way" to be able to execute a "Quit Claim Deed" and subsequent agreements

necessary to implement this project with the Georgia Department of

Transportation and the City of Columbus, Georgia for the improvement and

widening of Talbotton Road - Warm Springs Road/S.R. 982, Project#

STP00-8016-00(003) PI# 350730, in Muscogee County.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO EXECUTE A DOCUMENT TITLED "DEPARTMENT OF

TRANSPORTATION OPTION FOR RIGHT OF WAY" TO BE ABLE TO EXECUTE A"QUIT-CLAIM

DEED" WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (GDOT) FOR THE IMPROVEMENT

AND WIDENING OF TALBOTTON ROAD - WARM SPRINGS ROAD/S.R.982 IN COLUMBUS,

GEORGIA, IDENTIFIED AS PROJECT # STP00-8016-00(003), PI#350730

WHEREAS, the GDOT plans to improve and widen Talbotton Road - Warm Springs

Road/S.R. 982 in Columbus, Georgia; and,

WHEREAS, a segment of certain property (1708 Warm Springs Road) are located

within the limits of said proposed construction; and,

WHEREAS, the GDOT has requested the City to "Quit Claim Deed" to the GDOT that

portion of land of Talbotton Road - Warm Springs Rd/S.R. 982.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a document titled

"Department of Transportation Option for Right of Way" to be able to execute a

"Quit- Claim Deed" and subsequent agreements necessary to implement the project

with the Georgia Department of Transportation for the improvement and widening

Talbotton Road - Warm Springs Road/S.R. 982, Project# STP00-8016-00(003),

PI#350730
