COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 26, 2014
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY:
PRE/POST 65 RETIREE INSURANCE:
Provide a draft ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 01-49 to address the
suggestion to review another exception under new dependents by adding loss of
coverage and if the exception is added for loss of coverage and allow that
spouse to come back to the plan, they would come back at 100% of the cost of
coverage. (Request of Councilor Woodson) Also, research this for all
qualifying dependents to be allowed to return to the city?s plan. (Request of
Councilor Thomas)

TO THE CITY MANAGER:
WORKING SPOUSE EXCLUSIONS:
During the 2ND Reading of an Ordinance to authorize working spouse eligibility
for healthcare coverage, a General Government employee representative stated
there was a suggestion made by other employees. The suggestion is for Council
to look at the possibility of spreading the cost for spousal coverage amongst
all employees whose spouse is covered on the plan. A request was made for the
cost figures related to this suggestion to be provided for Council?s
consideration. (Request of Mayor Pro-Tem Turner Pugh)

PUBLIC AGENDA:
During the Public Agenda, a request was made for a Department Representative to
be present if there is a citizen scheduled to speak before Council concerning
complaints made against a particular CCG Department. (Request of Councilor
Woodson)

COUNCIL DISTRICTS:
During the City Manager?s Agenda, there was a Resolution presented requesting
the acceptance of a monetary donation to enhance amenities at Rotary Park.
There was some concern that these enhancements would conflict with future plans
for this area. For future instances such as this, when enhancements are to be
made to an area, that the Councilor for that District be notified. (Request of

PRE/POST 65 RETIREE INSURANCE:
Listed on the City Manager?s Agenda was a presentation by Human Resources
Director Reather Hollowell on the Pre/Post 65 Retiree Insurance. During this
discussion, a request was made for an appendix to be added to simplify the
ordinance to help employees better understand the legal language that is listed
concerning employees? insurance coverage. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

Have the Human Resources Department to make sure employees who are retiring
before the age of 65, be informed of the 30 day exceptions policy to make
additions to there healthcare plan. (Request of Councilor Thomas)

Schedule a Council Work Session for Council to further discuss the possible
options available for Pre/Post 65 Retirees exceptions. (Request of Mayor Pro

BUNKER HILL AREA:
A concerned citizen contacted Councilor Huff in reference to snakes and deer
coming in close proximity to her home as a result of a ditch that needs to be
cleaned located near her property. (Request of Councilor Huff)

RAILROAD TRACKS:
There was an article published in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer on Sunday,
August 24, 2014, concerning the condition of the railroad crossings in South
Columbus and the damage that it is causing to citizens? tires. Let?s have
staff check into the condition of the railroad crossings. (Request of
Councilor Huff)

DEMOLITION SCHEDULE:
Provide an update on the progress of the demolition of a home on the 4900 block
of Gardiner Drive, which caught fire and was condemned fours ago. (Request of
Councilor Barnes)

ISO RATING:
A request was made for information on possible actions that the City could take
to get the ISO rating changed. With the access road that was just put in and
the River Road Fire Station being utilized, have staff to determine if the
process could be expedited to have the ISO Rating changed. (Request of
Councilor Davis)
