A Resolution honoring Mr. Jack B. Key, Jr.
Whereas, Jack B. Key, Jr. was President of the East and North Columbus
Boys Club, President of Historic Columbus, President of the Rotary Club of
Columbus, as well as Chairman of the Board of St. Paul Methodist Church; and,
Whereas, Jack B. Key, Jr., was an avid runner and spearheaded the effort
to create a local jogging trail. He secured the gravel dust surface and the
wooden borders of the trail; and,
Whereas, Jack B. Key, Jr., and his running group ran daily on this trail
for many years; and,
Whereas, Jack B. Key, Jr., was a member of the Columbus Board of Public
Safety, Chairman of the Columbus Fire Department; and,
Whereas, Jack B. Key, Jr., was inducted into the Georgia Golf of Fame in
August, Georgia, and inducted into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of
Fame, in Columbus, Georgia.
NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES:
In honor of Jack B. Key, Jr., the Board of Honor has approved the
placement of a sign at the beginning of the jogging/walking trail at Weracoba
Park in Columbus, Georgia. The Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized to erect
appropriate signage at the entrance to the Trail at Weracoba Park.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held
on the 12th day of January, 2016 and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative
vote of ______ members of Council.
