MINUTES # 43-09
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, November 30, 2009 at
9:00AM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessor Lawton Grantham, Assessor
Richard Stallings, Assessor Ann Grantham and Assessor Pat Hunter present. Also
present was Chief Appraiser Betty Middleton.
Assessor Richard Stallings made the motion to approve Min#41-09; Assessor
Lawton Grantham seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Assessor Pat Hunter made the motion to approve Min#42-09; Assessor Ann Grantham
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Chief Appraiser Betty Middleton presented the application for non-taxability
from the Columbus Black History Museum with Articles of Incorporation and
By-Laws in response to the request from the Board of Tax Assessors to make a
decision for account # 06280401. After discussion Assessor Lawton Grantham made
a motion to adjust the assessments for account # 06280401 for tax years 2005,
2006 and 2007 to zero for being erroneously assessed; Assessor Richard
Stallings seconded the motion, motion carried. Assessor Lawton Grantham made a
motion to grant tax exempt status for the Columbus Black History Museum for the
year 2010; Assessor Richard Stallings seconded the motion, motion carried.
The Board approved the assessment ratio of 40% for the public utility
properties for 2009.
The Board signed assessment corrections for real estate.
Met with Commercial Division Manager Linda King, reviewed and approved the
following:

Com Div Mgr Linda King had some questions the Tax Commissioner Lula Huff had
given her to ask the Board of Tax Assessors concerning a letter received from
Roland L. Thacker, Assistant Treasurer, The Medical Center Hospital Authority
and Senior Vice President/CFO with Columbus Regional Healthcare System Inc.
regarding Doctors Hospital and Hughston Hospital real estate and several
related parcels.
Met with Personal Property Division Manager Oliver Juhan, reviewed and
approved the following
