SUBJECT: Donation for Fire/EMS
INITIATED BY: Fire and EMS
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept the donation of 74 Self
Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA?s), 100+ Masks, and Miscellaneous Parts
from the Fort Benning Fire Department.
Background: This donation is part of the ?Public to Public Initiative? through
the Federal Government which allows government agencies to donate items to
local jurisdictions. This donation will save the city money in replacement cost
of purchasing new SCBA?s for approximately $400,000.
Analysis: Fire and EMS is requesting to accept the donation of 74 SCBA?s, 100+
Masks, and Miscellaneous Parts from the Fort Benning Fire Department.
Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a
donation.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: None is expected.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve this donation.
Recommendations/Actions: Approve the donation of the donation of 74 SCBA?s,
100+ Masks, and Miscellaneous Parts from the Fort Benning Fire Department.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF 74 SELF
CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS (SCBA), 100 SCBA MASKS, MISCELLANEOUS SCBA PARTS
FROM FORT BENNING FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Columbus Fire and EMS would like to accept the donation of 74 SCBA?s,
100+ Masks, and Miscellaneous Parts to be utilized to replaced existing
department SCBA?s that need replacement; and,
WHEREAS, this donation will save the city money in replacement cost of
purchasing new SCBA?s for approximately $400,000; and,
WHEREAS, this donation is part of the ?Public to Public Initiative? through the
Federal Government which allows government agencies to donate items to local
jurisdictions.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to accept the
donation of 74 SCBA?s, 100+ Masks, and Miscellaneous Parts from the Fort
Benning Fire Department.
