SUBJECT: One time Funds Augmentation Opportunity from RSVP Grant



INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation Department





Recommendation: Approval is requested to apply for and if approved accept

funds from The Corporation for National & Community Service, administers of the

RSVP Grant, in the amount of $3,000, with an in-kind match of 30% met by Parks

and Recreation salaries and benefits and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by

the amount awarded.



Background: The purpose of this $3,000 augmentation is primarily to support

the capacity of all RSVP grantees to participate in training and technical

assistance opportunities, such as travel and participation in the Senior Corps

Directors Training Conference, other conference registration fees, and/or a new

computer, software, criminal history checks.



Analysis: If awarded, Parks and Recreation is requesting to receive grant

funds from the Corporation for National & Community Service in the amount of

$3,000.



Financial Considerations: The grant amount requested is $3,000 for the

Department of Parks and Recreation and the city of Columbus. The city?s match

required is 30% which is covered through employee salaries and wages.



Legal: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.



Recommendation: Authorize a resolution to approve the City to submit an

application for, and if awarded, to accept a grant from Corporation for

National & Community Service in the amount of $3,000 that is in addition to the

$26,043 that is already awarded to the city per the RSVP Grant.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR, AND IF

AWARDED, ACCEPT AN AUGMENTATION GRANT FROM THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL &

COMMUNITY SERVICE IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000 FOR THE RSVP GRANT, WITH AN IN-KIND

MATCH OF 30% MET BY PARKS AND RECREATION SALARIES AND BENEFITS, AND AMEND THE

MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE AWARD.



WHEREAS, the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS)

recently announced a one-time augmentation grant for RSVP grantees; and,



WHEREAS, the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS)

administers the RSVP grant that is already awarded to the city of Columbus;

and,



WHEREAS, once accepted, augmentation funds are available through the

end of the 3-year grant; and,



WHEREAS, augmentation funding is primary to support RSVP grantees to

participate in training and technical assistance opportunities; and,



WHEREAS, one-time augmentation of $3,000 grants are being made

available for RSVP grantees.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to submit an

application and if approved, accept funds from Corporation for National &

Community Service (CNCS) in the amount of $3,000 to aid in training and the

technical support for RSVP programming and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by

the amount awarded.
