Response The P.O.S.T. certified Correctional Supervisors working for General
Government departments were in both the Public Safety Pension and Pay plans
prior to July 1, 2007. The new play plan is consolidated, covering employees
in General Government and Public Safety. These officers are not eligible for
the Public Safety Educational Incentive program.
The employees that complete the MCP Warden's 3-day training program and are
assigned inmates to assist with completion of their duties are not certified by
P.O.S.T. as corrections officers and are not in the Public Safety Pension
Plan. Examples include Waste Equipment Operators, facilities maintenance
employees and other General Government employees that use inmates on a regular
basis.
The Golf Authority employees titled Prison Labor Foreman are P.O.S.T. certified
correction officers but work with low security risk inmates that they do not
keep under constant control or even visual contact are not in the Public Safety
Pension Plan.
