Agenda Item # 1

Columbus Consolidated Government

Council Meeting

07/23/2013

Agenda Report # 07

TO: Mayor and Council

SUBJECT: Macon Road: Street Layout Variance for Sears Pond South

INITIATED BY: Engineering Department

Recommendation: Authorization is requested of a variance to City Code Section

7.3.4 Street Layout to allow a distance of 373.81 feet between the

intersections of "Street F" and Hilyer Drive and Marriott Drive along the State

Route instead of the required 800 feet separation.

Background: The Traffic Engineering Division received site plans, Sears

Pond South, that indicated a need to request a variance to the City Code

requirements, if the new subdivision is to be developed along the south side of

Macon Road (SR22) and east of Hilyer Drive.

Analysis: The Traffic Engineering Division reviewed the site plans and

recommends approval of the variance. Since, this property cannot be developed

without said variance.

Financial Considerations: There are no costs to the City beyond administrative

cost for permitting and inspections.

Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There is no annual fiscal impact.

Legal Considerations: A variance to the City Code requirements for street

layout requires Council approval.

Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the recommended variance for street layout

described above.
