WHEREAS, citizens have requested assistance in various Columbus neighborhoods
in the form of placement of security cameras and other equipment on public
right-of-way;
WHEREAS, Georgia Power Company has programs used by county governments whereby
Georgia Power permits placement of security cameras and other equipment upon
its poles located on public right-of-way;
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that neighborhood associations and groups will
supply security cameras and other permitted equipment at no cost to the
Consolidated Government of Columbus, Georgia;
WHEREAS, this Council deems it appropriate to authorize the Mayor to execute
the attached Governmental Pole Attachment License Agreement so that security
will be enhanced in participating Columbus neighborhoods.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby authorize the Mayor to execute the attached Governmental Pole
Attachment License Agreement, including any addendum necessary for attachment
of wireless equipment. Any necessary security cameras or other permitted
equipment and payment for any needed electric service shall be provided by
neighborhood associations or groups at no cost to the Consolidated Government
of Columbus, Georgia. Such security cameras or other permitted equipment shall
only be placed on public right-of-way at locations approved by the Chief of
Police and the Director of Engineering. The Columbus Police Department shall
have full access to any pictures, data or information stored in any security
cameras or other permitted equipment.
