COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 17, 2007
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY:
MERITORIOUS RESOLUTIONS:
Have the staff to prepare a resolution congratulating the Cottonmouths
Hockey Team for having the best record in the league and winning the
Commissioners Trophy for the best record during regular session. Also, prepare
a resolution for the Northside High School Rifle Team for winning their second
consecutive State title. Let?s also prepare a resolution congratulating that
group of high school hockey players that was part of a regional team, who won a
State championship. Also, let?s prepare a resolution honoring Mr. Dan Trotter,
Principal of Harris County as the High School Principal of the Year for the
State of Georgia. Also, do a resolution for Northside High School who won
first place in the State Literary Competition. (Request of Councilor Henderson)

TO THE CITY MANAGER:
SPEEDING IN NEIGHBORHOODS:
Have the staff to check with some of the cities in the suburban Atlanta
area and let?s look at some of the creative ways they have implemented in
controlling speeding in neighborhoods, so that we can be proactive in slowing
down traffic in our neighborhoods. Also, provide some suggestions and ideas as
to how the cost factor, numbers and what it would take to start looking at how
we can manage that. (Request of Councilor Davis)
Let?s look at doing some type of public relations spot on our Government
Access Channel reminding our citizens how important it is to drive safely on
our streets and air that segment regularly. (Request of Councilor Hunter)

WADE STREET:
Have the staff to get the Community Development Program to go into an area
of Wade Street, as she has had several complaints in that area, whereas that
community needs some assistance very badly. (Request of Councilor Woodson)

FENCE AROUND GREYSTONE APARTMENTS:
Have the staff to look into the concerns of the residents near the
Greystone apartments where a fence was destroyed during the recent storm and
determine whether or not that developer is required to reinstall that fence.

BOND ISSUE FOR ROAD WIDENING PROJECTS:
Have the staff to go ahead and begin the process of preparing a bond issue
and priority list for road widening projects. Also, let?s decide whether or not
the City or the Development Authority will do the bond issue. (Request of
Councilor McDaniel)

LIST OF ITEMS FOR LIBRARY PROJECT:
Have the staff to ask the Library Board to provide a more detailed
breakdown of the items that are included under each of the categories they have
provided on their list. (Request of Councilor Henderson)

RFP FOR DEBT COLLECTION:
Have the staff to begin the process of an RFP for debt collection within
the next two to three weeks. (Request of Councilor Woodson)
Have the staff to bring back on next week, the plan that was adopted where
it outlines the steps as to how the collection process would go. (Request of
Mayor Pro Tem Turner Pugh)

RIVERCREST SUBDIVISION:
Have the staff to provide a report on the condition of the roads in
Rivercrest Subdivision, as they seem to be in serious condition. Also, provide
a report on the new Whittlesey Road, as to where we are with the study and
research being done with respect to the damage that was done. (Request of
Councilor Davis)

TO THE CLERK OF COUNCIL:
LONNIE JACKSON MEMORIAL:
Have the staff to meet with those individuals regarding the Lonnie Jackson
Memorial proposal, as well as the request to rename the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Park in honor of Mr. Lonnie Jackson to discuss the issues and then
bring this matter back before the Council. (Request of Mayor Pro Tem Turner
Pugh)
