A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Columbus has constructed the Columbus, Georgia Iron Works Convention

and Trade Center (the ?Trade Center?) to enhance the economic strengths,

business opportunities and workforce attributes that support the business

objectives of the people of Columbus and Muscogee County;



WHEREAS, an agreement has been reached between Columbus, Georgia and

the State of Georgia, acting by and through its Department of Economic

Development (DecD) for the transfer of certain Trade Center property from

Columbus and its Building Authority to the State of Georgia in return for funds

sufficient to pay off certain bonds issued for the Trade Center expansion;



WHEREAS, Columbus will lease certain Trade Center property back from the State

of Georgia for a period of approximately 20 years under said agreement and

Columbus will request reconveyance of said property from the State of Georgia

at the end of said time period;



WHEREAS, the State Properties Commission has, at its regularly scheduled

meeting on October 23, 2006, approved the real property acquisition and

reconveyance terms set forth in said agreement pursuant to the authorization

and requirements of O.C.G.A. ?50-7-16;



WHEREAS, this Council desires to implement said intergovernmental agreement

between Columbus, Georgia and the State of Georgia for the public benefits

bestowed upon the citizens of Columbus, Georgia through the Trade Center

expansion project.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby authorize the Mayor to execute the Economic Development Agreement

between Columbus, Georgia and the State of Georgia, acting by and through its

Department of Economic Development in order to facilitate funding of the Trade

Center expansion project in Columbus, Georgia. We further authorize the Mayor,

City Manager, City Attorney, Finance Director and Columbus Building Authority

to execute all necessary deeds, leases or other documents to implement said

Agreement and to make all payments for necessary expenses related to this

transaction from proceeds received from the State of Georgia. The balance of

any net proceeds shall remain in the Debt Service Fund. We further direct the

Clerk of Council to notify the Columbus Council on or about July 1, 2026 of the

provisions of said agreement so that a proper request may be sent to the

Georgia General Assembly for reconveyance of certain property in the Trade

Center expansion project to Columbus, Georgia.
