FOR THE MEETING OF FEBRUARY 11, 2014
O R D I N A N C E S:
(1) 2nd Reading - Property located at 6450 Schomburg Road, is proposed
for rezoning from SFR1/RO (Single Family Residential/Residential Office) to RO
(Residential Office) zoning district. (REZN?10-13-3344) (District 6?Councilor
Allen) The purpose of the rezoning is for personal care home, type III;
multifamily dwellings; daycare, type III. The Planning Advisory Commission
recommends approval and the Planning Department recommends conditional
approval. (As amended)
(2) 1st Reading - Property located at 1030 Illges Road and 1044 Rigdon Road is
proposed for rezoning from NC (Neighborhood Commercial) to RO (Residential
Office) zoning district. (REZN- 10-12-3019) (District 1?Councilor Barnes) The
purpose of the rezoning is for multifamily apartments and offices. The Planning
Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommend conditional approval.
(3) 1st Reading - Property located at 8451, 8461 and 8501 Fortson Road, is
proposed for rezoning from RE1/GC with conditions (Residential Estate 1/General
Commercial with conditions) to GC (General Commercial) zoning district.
(Richard E. Catrett) (REZN?12-13-3673) (District 2 ?Councilor Davis) The
purpose of the rezoning is the relocation of Flatrock Sand & Gravel. The
Planning Advisory Commission recommends approval and the Planning Department
recommends conditional approval.
(4) 1st Reading - An ordinance adopting a new Chapter 15A so as to regulate
burglar and fire alarm sales and installation in Columbus, Georgia; and for
other purposes. (Councilor Thomas)
(5) 1st Reading - An ordinance amending Chapter 3 of the Columbus Code by
revising certain definitions set forth in Section 3-1 thereof, enacting a new
Section 3-5, repealing any ordinances in conflict therewith; and for other
purposes. (Councilor Davis)
R E S O L U T I O N S:
(6) A resolution requesting a Special Exception Use to operate a personal Care
Home, Type III located 6450 Schomburg Road Road. (Douglas and Patricia
Manuel/John I. Rivers) The current zoning for the property is SFR1 (Single
Family Residential 1) RO (Residential Office) zoning district.
(EXCP-10-13-3345) (District-6 Councilor Allen) The Planning Advisory Commission
and the Planning Department recommend approval.
(7) A resolution endorsing the Fort Benning Hampton Inn application to the
Commissioner of Community Affairs for State sales tax refunds in accordance
with O.C.G.A. ? 48-8-274(7). (Councilor Allen)
(8) A resolution requesting that the local delegation to the Georgia
General Assembly support the amendment to O.C.G.A. Section 31-7-72 contained in
HB 839 which would change the method of appointment of hospital authority
members. (Councilor Huff)
