SUBJECT: Lease Agreement ? 6250 Warm Springs Road
INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment
Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a lease agreement with The
Timothy Group to lease the building at 6250 Warms Springs Road for $1 per year
for five (5) years.
Background: The City owns the property located at 6250 Warm Springs Road which
is adjacent to Flat Rock Park. The City acquired this property from the State
of Georgia in 2016. We were contacted by The Timothy Group asking to lease one
of the buildings located on this property for $1 per year. The Timothy Group is
a faith based non-profit organization that combines specific armed forces
training with Biblical teaching to forge an elite warrior in young men. Their
graduates value human life at home and abroad. They wish to utilize the
building as a meeting place and to teach outdoor and life skills.
Analysis: The building is currently vacant and the City has no current or
future use for it. The tenant will be responsible for maintenance of the
building, utilities, and must maintain hazard and liability insurance.
Financial Considerations: There will be no cost burden to the City. The tenant
will be responsible for all maintenance and utilities, and will be required to
maintain hazard and liability insurance.
Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving the City requires Council
approval.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested to enter into a lease agreement
with The Timothy Group to lease the building at 6250 Warms Springs Road for $1
per year for five (5) years.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH
THE TIMOTHY GROUP TO LEASE THE BUILDING AT 6250 WARMS SPRINGS ROAD FOR $1 PER
YEAR FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS.
WHEREAS, the building is owned by Columbus Consolidated Government and
is currently vacant; and,
WHEREAS, The Timothy Group is a faith-based non-profit organization
that combines specific armed forces training with Biblical teaching to forge
elite warriors in young men; and,
WHEREAS, The Timothy Group has requested to utilize the building as a
meeting place to teach outdoor and life skills to their participate; and,
WHEREAS, the City will charge the tenant $1 per year for a period of
five (5) years and the tenant will be responsible for all maintenance costs,
utilities and maintaining hazard and liability insurance.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a lease agreement
with the The Timothy Group to lease the building at 6250 Warm Springs Road for
$1 per year for a period of five (5) years.
