SUBJECT: Memorandum of Understanding



INITIATED BY: Columbus Department of Fire and EMS





Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a Memorandum of

Understanding with the Muscogee County School Board to accept transfer

ownership of two inoperable school buses. Columbus Department of Fire and EMS

will use the buses in future school bus extrication training.



Background: Columbus Department of Fire and EMS has expressed a need for

old/inoperable school buses to be used in school bus extrication training for

department personnel.





Analysis: The Muscogee County School District is providing the school buses.

The City of Columbus and the Department of Fire and EMS will have to agree to

the terms of the agreement.



Financial Considerations: There is a $500.00 towing fee to have the buses moved

and funds are currently available in the Fire and EMS FY 2017 Budget.





Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government is required to

adhere to the requirements of the MOU.

A RESOLUTION TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE MUSCOGEE

COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO ACCEPT TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF TWO INOPERABLE SCHOOL

BUSES. COLUMBUS DEPARTMENT OF FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WILL UTILIZE

THE BUSES IN FUTURE SCHOOL BUS EXTRICATION TRAINING.



WHEREAS, the Columbus Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services will

receive two inoperable school buses; and,



WHEREAS, the Columbus Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services will be

able to provide school bus extrication training to some of its members; and,



WHEREAS, the Muscogee County School District is donating two buses; and,



WHEREAS, there is a towing expense of $500.00 to have the buses moved and the

funds are available in the current FY2017 budget.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum

of Understanding with the Muscogee County School Board to accept transfer of

ownership of two inoperable school buses.
