MINUTES # 13-08



The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, April 14, 2008 at

9:00AM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessor Lawton Grantham, Assessor

Richard Stallings, Assessor Ann Grantham and Pat Hunter present. Also present

was Chief Appraiser Betty J. Middleton.



Assessor Richard Stallings made the motion to approve Min#12-08; Assessor

Lawton Grantham seconded the motion; motion carried unanimously.



Mr. Grant representing ?The Closet? had an appointment to meet with the Board

of Tax Assessors, but did not appear. (Account # 07174301).



Met with Mrs. Harris and Mr. King representing The Pastoral Institute regarding

requests for non-taxability for 2008 15th Ave (Parcel ID 028 019 010) and 2002

15th Ave (Parcel ID 028 019 011). Mrs. Harris stated that on January 1, 2008, 2

units had transitional tenants that were allowed to stay rent-free for the

month of January and the remaining units were used for storage. She said both

buildings are razed since April 1, 2008 to construct a new building. Mrs.

Harris stated they are a 501(c)(3) organization and provide services to all who

need them regardless of their ability to pay for the services. The Board asked

Mrs. Harris and Mr. King to furnish copies of the 501 (c) (3) form, By-laws and

Articles of Incorporation. The Board delayed decision until the requested

documents are received.



Met with Mrs. Patterson and Mrs Hudgins representing Christian Fellowship

Church regarding a request of non-taxability for property located at 3668

Cusseta Rd (Parcel ID 064 017 003a). Mrs. Patterson stated that as of January

1, 2008 the property was not used for anything. She said they intend to repair

the building and use it for storage. The Board denied the request for

non-taxability for 2008 since it was not used for church purposes.



Met with Residential Division Manager Bob O?Brien, reviewed and approved the

following:

Met with Commercial Division Manager Linda King, reviewed and approved the

following:

Com Div Mgr Linda King discussed with the Board a letter received from the

Development Authority for J&P Family LLLP. The Development Authority will issue

a new letter to replace it.



The Board approved tax exempt status for Parcel ID 189 017 012X, 027 015 015

and 016.



Met with Personal Property Division Manager Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved

the following:



Assessment Corrections: 1(-)

Appeal: 1(NC)

Freeport Applications: 15(Approved)
