WHEREAS, Carolyn Fryer, former Deputy Clerk of the U.S. District Court for the

Middle District of Georgia, died on December 20, 2007;



WHEREAS, Ms. Fryer was born in Columbus on December 11, 1948, daughter

of Albert and Violet Hightower;



WHEREAS, she worked in a local law firm and began her career in District Court

as Deputy Clerk for the late Judge J. Robert Elliott in 1986, and she worked

there until her retirement in 2005;



WHEREAS, she assisted judges and lawyers from Columbus and across the country,

always with a smile on her face;



WHEREAS, she also was an accomplished musician, playing piano for Rose Hill

Baptist Church and Morningside Baptist Church;



WHEREAS, she is survived by her mother, Violet Hightower, a son, Ronald Clayton

Miller all of Columbus, a sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne Corley and her

husband David of Cataula, Georgia, a nephew, Jeff Corley and his wife Kristin

and their son Turner of Trussville, Alabama, a niece, Jennifer Parker and her

husband, Tommy and their children, Haley and Olivia of Evans, Georgia.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of

Deputy Clerk Carolyn Fryer. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the

family of Carolyn Fryer.
