METRA Route Adjustment for
Route 4 - Ft. Benning
Effective Monday, June 1, 2009
Due to the gate closure at South Lumpkin Rd. and Custer Rd. on Ft. Benning
June 1, 2009, METRA must make an adjustment to its Route 4 Ft. Benning bus
schedule. The Route 4 bus will make 9 trips on and off Ft. Benning between the
hours of 6am and 12:12pm. When the gate closes at 1 pm, we will make 10 trips
turning the bus around at the end of S. Lumpkin Rd. The afternoon trips will
not go on Post. Please see questions and answers below.
Route 4 ? Ft. Benning
Q. Why is the Route changing?
A. Ft. Benning is closing the gate at S. Lumpkin and Custer Rd., ACP 1
effective June 1, 2009. The hours of operations are from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00
p.m.
Q. Will the bus still go to Main Post?
A. Yes. METRA will travel inbound and outbound using S. Lumpkin Rd. The 5:00
a.m. bus leaving METRA will turn around at the end of S. Lumpkin Rd. Buses
departing the Transfer Center from 5:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m will go onto Main Post
from S. Lumpkin Rd. gate. Buses from 12:30 p.m. forward will turn around at the
end of S. Lumpkin Rd.
Q. How will the bus run during the hours that the S. Lumpkin Rd. gate is closed?
A. The bus will travel the current route to the end of S. Lumpkin Rd. and turn
around for the inbound trip.
Q. Will the times change?
A. No. The times will not change.
Q. Why can?t the bus turn around on Walker St. during the hours the gate is
closed as it does on Saturdays?
A. Due to the heavy ridership, school zones and traffic volume through the Main
Gate, the bus would not be able to make the schedule to connect customers with
other buses at the Transfer Center
Q. Will there be any changes to Saturday?s schedule?
A. No changes to Saturday?s schedule
Q. How will I get from the drop off point on S. Lumpkin Rd. onto Ft. Benning?
A. In discussion with Ft. Benning about a shuttle bus from Ft. Benning that
would pick up customer at the end of the line on S. Lumpkin Road and transport
them to the Main Post Transfer Center.
Q. Will the bus fare change?
A. No, the fare will remain the same. The regular fare is $1.25 and Ft.
Benning fare is $1.90.
