COUNCIL MEETING OF JULY 11, 2006
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY:
RESOLUTIONS:
Have the staff to bring forth a resolution for Clerk of Council Tiny
Washington for her accomplishments in being named the 2007 President of the
Georgia Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association that was featured in
the Columbus Times Newspaper. (Request of Councilor Woodson)
Have the staff to bring forth a resolution for Kyle Carter for
representing Columbus, Georgia as a twelve year old in the All Star Games for
Little Leagues. Also, let?s recognize the Northern Little League and Kyle
Carter for their accomplishments. (Request of Councilor Allen)
Let?s bring forth a resolution for Columbus High School for being ranked
No. 2 in the State by the Georgia High School Athletic Association and the No.
1 Public School in points accumulated in all athletic events and sports for
both male and female. (Request of Councilor Henderson)
Prepare a resolution for Stacey Kim for competing in the U.S. Open for the
LPGA Tournament and for being one of the youngest players to compete in this
tournament. (Request of Councilor Davis)

CURFEW LAWS:
Have the staff to research information regarding curfew laws that could be
put into effect. (Request of Councilor Anthony)

DANGEROUS DOGS:
Have the staff to research information in regards to placing some
restrictions on pit bull dogs due to complaints that people have been attacked
while walking or children playing in their yards. (Request of Councilor
Anthony)

VARIANCE REQUEST:
Have the staff to research the laws to determine the liability factor of
the City and the risks involved in granting the variance request with the width
of the roadway not being up to standards. (Request of Councilor Davis)

VACANT BUILDINGS:
Consider having the staff to bring back for discussion the points that
have been raised regarding the length of time that would be allowed for
businesses to have vacant buildings. (Request of Mayor Poydasheff)

REZONING SIGNS:
Have the staff to determine if we could get the ?notice to rezone? signs
closer to the right-of-way for better visibility by the citizens. (Request of
Councilor Davis)

SIDEWALKS:
Have the staff to check into the situation regarding sidewalks for Wilder
Drive and Higgs Drive to determine how far these roads are from the schools.
