SUBJECT: Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia



INITIATED BY: Juvenile Court





Recommendation: Approval is requested to submit and if approved accept a

grant in the amount of $5,000 or the approved amount from the Council of

Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia from funds allocated by Congress from the

Juvenile Justice Accountability Block Grant and amend the Multi-Governmental

Fund by like amount.



Background: Funds have been allocated to the State of Georgia to improve the

Juvenile Justice System in Georgia. Columbus is eligible for $5,000.



Analysis: The funds will be used for counseling services, psychological

evaluations, and residential ? therapeutic care. The grant period begins

October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007.



Financial Considerations: The grant is for $5,000 or the amount approved with

no matching funds. The funds will be used to provide services for youth

referred to Juvenile Court.



Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government has been notified

of its eligibility to receive the funds.



Recommendation/Action: Authorize to submit an application and if approved

accept a grant from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges from funds allocated

by Congress and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by a like amount.
