A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Muscogee County School District and Columbus, Georgia have both
indicated a need to acquire certain property to be used for educational and
governmental purposes;
WHEREAS, the Muscogee County School District has agreed to convey six
(6) acres of clean, suitable land to Columbus, Georgia for governmental
purposes including a city service center and recreational uses in exchange for
property known as the Firestone site and property owned by Columbus adjacent to
the Mildred Terry Library;
WHEREAS, the property conveyed to the Muscogee County School District shall be
used for educational purposes as authorized by law;
WHEREAS, the exchange as properties described above will occur after the
completion of the Library Project as authorized by SPLOST referendum in 1999
and conveyance of approximately 37.75 acres from Columbus to the Muscogee
County School District;
WHEREAS, the Columbus Council desires to enter a Memorandum of Understanding
with the Muscogee County School District so that the above-described exchange
of properties can smoothly occur.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
Pursuant to Section 7-501 of the Columbus Charter, we hereby authorize the City
Manager to execute the attached Memorandum of Understanding between Columbus
and the Muscogee County School District. After completion of the Library
Project and appropriate conveyance of the same by Columbus to Muscogee County
School District, Muscogee County School District shall convey to Columbus six
(6) acres of property as shown on that certain drawing dated August 2, 2005 and
attached to said Memorandum in exchange for property known as the Firestone
site and property owned by Columbus adjacent to the Mildred Terry Library.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
20th day of March, 2007, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
