CRIME PREVENTION GRANTS:

1. BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS - $20,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with Big Brothers/Big

Sisters to mentor juveniles from ages 6 - 14 in elementary schools and middle

schools to reduce the truancy rate, drug usage, pregnancy and delinquency among

juveniles. An agenda report and resolution are attached.



2 GEORGIA APPLESEED, INC. $90,000

Approval is requested to enter into a contract with Georgia Appleseed, Inc, for

funding the initiatives of Georgia Appleseed, Inc., program to impact the lives

of juveniles in Muscogee County in an effort to reduce the rate of truancy,

criminal behavior and delinquency. An agenda report and resolution are

attached.



3. TEEN ADVISORS, INC. $70,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with Teen Advisors

Inc., Program to impact the lives of juveniles to reduce the rate of truancy

drug usage, pregnancy and delinquency. An agenda report and resolution are

attached.



4. CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY JAIL MINISTRY, INC. $42,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with the Chattahoochee

Valley Jail Ministry, Inc., for efforts to educate and prepare inmates for

graduation of the GED Program within the Muscogee County Jail. An agenda

report and resolution are attached.



5. DARE TO BE GREAT PROGRAM - $85,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with the Columbus

Police Department for funding of DARE to be GREAT Program to reduce drug

usage, teen pregnancy and gang activity among juveniles within the school

system. An agenda report and resolution are attached.



6. FAMILY CENTER OF COLUMBUS - F.A.S.T. PROGRAM - $85,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with the Family Center

of Columbus toward the treatment of at risk youth and families to reduce

dropouts, juvenile crime rates and delinquency. Funds will be used for mental

health professionals counseling services for families. An agenda report and

resolution are attached.



7. JR. MARSHAL'S PROGRAM - $38,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with the Muscogee

County Marshal's Office to mentor juveniles from ages 11-14 in middle schools

to reduce drug usage, pregnancy and gang activity within the school system. An

agenda report and resolution are attached.



8. JUVENILE DRUG COURT - $50,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with Muscogee County

Juvenile Drug Court for new initiatives - In Home Counseling, GPS Monitoring,

Psychological Evaluations and Speakers/Prevention DVD's. An agenda report and

resolution are attached.



9. LITERACY ALLIANCE - $100,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with Literacy Alliance

of Columbus in an effort to increase literacy rates among our entire community

with programs such as Kindergarten Readiness, Adult Literacy Programming and

Book Parade, etc. An agenda report and resolution are attached.



10. RIGHT FROM THE START - $40,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with Right from the

Start in an effort to mentor juveniles from ages 12 - 16 in middle schools to

reduce the drug usage, pregnancy and delinquency among juveniles. An agenda

report and resolution are attached.



11. ADULT DRUG COURT - $60,000

Approval is requested to enter into a one-year contract with Muscogee County

Adult Drug Court for reduction of recidivism and continued drug use among adult

offenders. An agenda report and resolution are attached.
