A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EACH SWORN OFFICER IN THE COLUMBUS POLICE
DEPARTMENT TO RECEIVE A ONE-TIME BONUS OF $1,500 FOR THOSE SWORN OFFICERS ON
PAYROLL AS OF 01/01/2016.
WHEREAS, the one-time bonus will be paid for from the FY16 budget from salary
savings. There were 397 sworn officers on payroll as of 01/01/2016. The bonus
will cost $641,056; and,
WHEREAS, current Police Department sworn officers are working with a
substantial reduction in workforce due to recruitment and retention issues
impacting the department.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to pay a one-time bonus of
$1,500 to CPD sworn police officers on payroll as of 01/01/2016 at a total cost
of $641,056. Funding is available in the existing FY16 budget of the Police
Department.
