Description Have the staff to have someone to go out and take a look at the old

Response We condemned this vacant & abandoned gas station in 7-00. Our
agreement with the owner, Forest Preston, was that he keep the building secured
and the grounds cut & clean. He was in some sort of litigation with a former
tenant there. As we have inspected periodically, we have had him re-secure
areas when necessary. In more recent times, the building has become more of an
eye sore because of graffiti, and the grounds have not been maintained as they
once were. A month or so ago, someone called expressing an interest in
purchasing the property. I have not dealt with Mr. Preston in a long time. I
usually contact Paul Mahaffey with Remax, who handles this for him. I believe
Mr. Preston is now old and sickly. We are proceeding with the demolition and
will get price and send to Council for approval.
