BOARD OF HONOR
Meeting
August 10, 2011
Members Present: Mr. Bob Hydrick, Mr. John J. Rodgers, Mr. Milton Hirsch, and
Mr. Billy Watson.
Members Absent: Judge Clay Land, Superior Court Judge Bobby G. Peters and Mr.
John Wells.
Mailouts: Letters from Jerome Bechard- Board Member of the Columbus Hockey
Association, Inc.; Don Stone- Governor of the Georgia Student Hockey League
and from Paula Acton- ?Hockey mom?.
Chairman Mr. Bob Hydrick called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m. in the Ground
Floor Conference Room, of the Government Center. There was a quorum present
for the meeting.
Request: Naming an area or portion within the new Ice Rink in honor of the
late Mr. William Robinson.
Deputy Clerk of Council Davis asked if the members had an opportunity to review
the information that was mailed out to them on Mr. William Robinson.
Mr. Jack Rodgers recalled that William Robinson was a senior at Northside High
School when he lost his life in an automobile accident. Mr. Rodgers then moved
approval of the request. Seconded by Mr. Watson.
Mr. Hydrick asked if the request was to name the ice rink building or a portion
within the building in honor of Mr. Robinson. After some further discussion
regarding the request, Mr. Rodgers amended his motion to read approval to name
an area within the new ice rink in honor of William Robinson as so designated
by the Council. Seconded by Mr. Watson and carried unanimously by those four
members present for this meeting.
There being no other business to discuss, this meeting adjourned at 3:27 p.m.
