A RESOLUTION APPROVING A SPECIAL EXCEPTION USE TO ERECT A 160-FOOT WIRELESS
COMMUNICATIONS FACILITY (MONOPOLE) FOR A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE ON
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 6401 RIVER ROAD.
WHEREAS, RETEL Services/Kathy Kelly-Jacobs have appropriately applied for a
Special Exception Use, to erect a 160-foot wireless communications facility
(monopole) for wireless communications service on the property described above;
and,
WHEREAS, new wireless communication facilities are permitted solely as a
Special Exception Use under the current NC (Neighborhood Commercial) zoning
district; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Department has reviewed the request and recommends
conditional approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That all the criteria of Section 3.2.72 of the Unified Development
Ordinance has been properly met and a Special Exception Use to erect a 160-foot
monopole for wireless communication facility (monopole) is granted for the
property located at 6401 River Road
A special exception use is granted for the subject property with the
following conditions:
1) The maximum tower height shall be increased from 150
feet to 160 feet.
2) The FAA Approval letter shall be granted before a building permit is issued
by the City of Columbus.
3) A Mono-Pine cell tower shall be required and maintain at this location.
4) A natural undisturbed buffer shall be required in between the mono-pine
structure and the Ridges of Green Island property.
5) The rest of the property shall remain natural and undeveloped.
