SUBJECT: A Miracle in the City Foundation Lease Agreement

Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a three year lease
agreement with A Miracle in the City Foundation for the Primus King Recreation
Center, 2604 Staunton Drive a/k/a 090 010 028 Columbus, Georgia.
Background: In 1998, Primus King Recreation Center was closed and the
activities were consolidated into the new Recreation Supercenters. The A
Miracle in the City Foundation (M.I.C.) is requesting to reopen the center to
provide recreational, educational and community support programs. M.I.C. has
agreed to provide the cost of the rehabilitation of the center and all
maintenance and upkeep of the facilities under the terms of the lease. The
centers will be open to all citizens of the community.
Analysis: The City no longer has a use for the recreation center. The
reopening of the center by M.I.C. will benefit the community with the
additional recreational and educational opportunities. The term of the lease
agreement will be for 3 years at $1 per year. The lease will contain 3
three-year renewal terms with Council approval of each term.
Financial Considerations: No impact to the operating budget.
Legal Considerations: The City Attorney has reviewed the lease and agrees as
to form.
Recommendations: Approval is requested to enter into a three year lease

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A THREE YEAR
LEASE AGREEMENT WITH A MIRACLE IN THE CITY FOUNDATION FOR OF THE PRIMUS KING
RECREATION CENTER, 2604 STAUNTON DRIVE A/K/A 090 010 028 COLUMBUS, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the Primus King Recreation Center was closed in 1998 and activities
were consolidated into the Recreation Supercenters; and.
WHEREAS, the City no long has a use for the recreation center; and,
WHEREAS, A Miracle in the City Foundation (M.I.C.) is requesting to reopen the
center to provide recreational, educational and community support programs; and,
WHEREAS, reopening of the center by M.I.C. will benefit the community with the
additional recreational and educational opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a three year lease
agreement with A Miracle in the City Foundation for the Primus King Recreation
Center, 2604 Staunton Drive Columbus, Georgia.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the
