Area Youth Put Their Talents on Display at a Unique Vending Fair
COLUMBUS, Ga., Jul 2, 2014 ? The 4th annual LET?S GROW STE(A)M initiative will
be held October 14th & 15th at The Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, GA. The
LET?S GROW STE(A)M initiative is sponsored in part by the Columbus Civic Center
and various community agencies in an effort to showcase creative and
imaginative STE(A)M projects submitted by students in grades Pre-K thru 12th
grade of Georgia and Alabama during the Greater Columbus Fair. Free
registration for event ends October 3, 2014; register for competition on the
Columbus Civic Center?s website at www.columbusciviccenter.org
The LET?S GROW STE(A)M initiative takes the routine school project from a
normal synergized classroom setting to a much larger energized and informal
audience. Students get the opportunity to present projects on the topics of
robotics, engineering, and science/technology, and the arts. Additionally,
Let?s Grow also partnered with community organizations such as Urban League of
Greater Columbus, Columbus Parks and Recreations, Columbus State University,
Columbus Technical College and Fountain City Classic.
The LET?S GROW STE(A)M initiative began in 2010 to reestablish the educational
component of our community's fair; we have been growing ever since. In 2013,
over 300 students registered and over 175 students submitted projects. The
winners received prizes provided by Let?s Grow sponsors and were recognized at
the Let?s Grow Awards ceremony. This year?s ceremony will take place on
Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00pm at the Columbus Civic Center; admission to
ceremony is free to public.
We are also pleased to announce the Let?s Grow platform has expanded to include
the ?So You Think You Can Dance? competition hosted by Reach for Your Dreamz,
Tuesday, Oct 14th at 7:00pm and The Kid Entrepreneur Vending Expo hosted
Wednesday, Oct 15th starting at 6p.m. by Crayons, Crafts and Kool-Kids. Visit
the Columbus Civic Center website for more information or contact the Columbus
Civic Center at 706-653-4844.
