Referrals From Mayor and Council-10/24/2006

Subject Proposed Baker Village Project

Description Ask the Housing Authority to have their attorneys to look into the

possibility of a set-aside program so that local contractors, particularly

sub-contractors would have a certain portion of work set-aside for the local

sub-contractors. (Request of Mayor Poydasheff )

Get one of the Deputy City Managers to work with the Housing Authority and

let?s find out what the opportunities are for the Baker Village area, to

include this proposed project; and very soon, we need to make some kind of

decision, if this is something that we want to participate in. (Request of

Councilor Henderson)

Have the staff to continue to look at some of the creative financing and

determine if there are any CDBG funds available, as well as look and see if

there is special funding that we can get through special appropriation on the

State and National level. Also, if infrastructure kinds of issue, i.e., sewer,

etc.; can we use some of the funding from those restrictive funds for those

restrictive purposes that will support this effort. (Request of Councilor

Anthony)

Have the Finance staff to get together and determine where we can fund the $3.5

million to assist the Housing Authority with this proposed project, and look at

some creative financing ways that we could possibly do this. (Request of

Councilor Suber)
