Alcohol Ordinance Committee
Councilors - As you may remember we had an Alcohol Ordinance Committee that met
last year and really worked through some kinks that needed correction in our
Alcohol Ordinance. There was little if any controversy related to the proposed
amendments that came out of the committee, which amendments ended up passing
Council unanimously. In that Committee, several stakeholders (particularly
Uptown business owners) had several issues that came up just as our committee
process was drawing to a close. We asked them to hold off on those issues
until we could see if the amendments we had been working on would go through.
It has been many months now and those business owners would like us to look
into those issues. Since the Committee was so effective the last time, I
thought we could convene another committee and see if they can come up with
proposals for Council's consideration.
I've spoken with Councilor Thomas, who suggested the first committee, and she
would be interested in serving on any new committee. Would any of you all like
to serve? The committee has not been established yet. I'm just trying to get
a feel for what issues are out there and who would like to be involved. Let me
know if you have any interest in the committee.
