SUBJECT: Donation by West Georgia Inspectors Association



INITIATED BY: Inspections & Code





Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a donation of multiple smoke

detectors totaling in the amount of $1000.00 from the West Georgia Inspectors

Association (WGIA) to be used to assist the Fire Department?s efforts of fire

prevention for the Citizens of Columbus Georgia.



Background: The West Georgia Inspectors Association has requested to give a

donation of several smoke detectors totaling in the amount of $ 1,000 to the

Columbus Fire Department for the citizens of Columbus, Georgia.



Analysis: WGIA has expressed a desire to donate these smoke detectors to the

Fire Department to assist with their efforts of fire prevention in the homes of

the Citizens of Columbus.



Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a

private donation.



Legal Considerations: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.



Recommended /Actions: Approval is requested to accept a donation of multiple

smoke detectors totaling in the amount of $1000.00 from the West Georgia

Inspectors Association (WGIA) to be used to assist the Fire Department?s

efforts of fire prevention for the Citizens of Columbus Georgia.







A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF

SMOKE DETECTORS TO ASSIST THE CITIZENS OF COLUMBUS WITH FIRE PREVENTION.



WHEREAS, The West Georgia Inspectors Association desires to donate multiple

smoke detectors for a cost of $1,000 to be used by the Fire Department; and,



WHEREAS, the smoke detectors will be used as fire prevention for the citizens

of Columbus; and,



WHEREAS, The West Georgia Inspectors Association will donate these smoke

detectors at no cost to the City.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept the

donation of smoke detectors to be used for fire prevention
