(A) EMERGENCY REPAIRS AT GALLOPS POTTERY SHOP

It is requested that Council approve payment to Pound Construction (Columbus,

GA), in the amount of $28,746.75 for performing emergency repairs on the roof

at Gallops Pottery Shop.

In October 2010, the roof at the Gallops Pottery Shop showed signs of

deterioration. Upon further investigation, by Facilities Maintenance, it was

discovered that the trusses for the roof were broken and the roof was sagging

due to the weight of the HVAC system. To avoid a safety hazard and further

damage, Facilities Maintenance obtained price quotes from the following vendors

to repair the roof:

Pound Construction (Columbus, GA) $20,292.86

Weber Construction (Columbus, GA) 38,500.00

Brock Jones, Inc. (Columbus, GA) 78,958.00

The City Manager approved the emergency repair on October 5, 2010. Pound

Construction began the repair work and made the roof structurally sound.

However, the Facilities Maintenance Division found that decking, felt and

shingles on the south side of the building needed replacing. Pound

Construction was asked to provide an estimate for the additional work. The

additional work was estimated at $8,318.21 - $11,131.60, contingent upon the

amount of decking to be replaced. The City Manager approved the additional

work on November 17, 2010; the actual cost for the added repair work was

$8,453.89.

Funds in the amount of $20,292.86 is available in the FY11 Budget as follows:
