MINUTES # 01-10
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, January 4, 2010 at
9:00AM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessor Lawton Grantham, Assessor Ann
Grantham and Assessor Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief Appraiser
Betty J. Middleton.
Assessor Ann Grantham advised the Board that GA Code 48-5-298 states the
election of a chairman of the Board and the election of a secretary shall be
the first order of business at the first meeting of the Board for each year.
Assessor Ann Grantham made the motion to nominate Assessor William Braxton be
the Chairman, motion seconded by Assessor Lawton Grantham, carried unanimously.
Assessor Ann Grantham made the motion to nominate Betty J. Middleton to be the
Secretary, seconded by Assessor Pat Hunter carried unanimously.
Assessor Lawton Grantham made the motion to approve Min#47-09. Assessor Pat
Hunter seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.
The Board also reviewed and approved VA letters of application for VA homestead
exemptions for 2010 (see list attached).
Met with Residential Division Manager Bob O?Brien to discuss procedures for
unfinished construction. After discussion the Board approved the same procedure
as past years.
Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the
following:

Pers Prop Div Mgr Oliver Juhan apprised the Board that he is working on
accounts P0618301, X0200501, L1029301, X0800501, 01346001, P0484201, and
X9600501.
The Board approved tax exempt status for personal property account # 07274601
for the year 2009.
