RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Harold E. Bryant, Vice-President of the Greater Columbus Chamber of
Commerce, died on October 18, 2009;
WHEREAS, Mr. Bryant was born on October 19, 1941 in Columbus and worked for
Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Georgia for 35 years, retiring as Senior
Vice-President;
WHEREAS, he served as Past General Chairman of the Southern Open and Buick
Challenge Golf Tournaments, Past President and active member of the Rotary Club
of East Columbus, Past Board Member of PAWS, currently on the Public Safety
Advisory Commission and Current Chairman of the Board for Community of Heroes;
WHEREAS, Mr. Bryant also served his country as a Major General in the U.S. Army
Reserve;
WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James R.
Bryant, Sr.;
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cynthia W. Bryant; two
children, Dawn B. Braswell and her husband, Fred, and Angie B. Coleman and her
husband, Tim; eight grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Matthews, Bryant Allen
Matthews, Tracy Braswell, Barbara Wierick and her husband, Tommy, Jon Braswell,
Mandy Pesamoska and her husband, Mike, Tanner Coleman, and Hannah Coleman;
three great-grandchildren, Jason Simpson, Courtney Pesamoska and Taylor
Pesamoska; nieces and nephews, James R. Bryant, Jr., Kim Turnbull and her
husband, Ken, Dell King and her husband, Charlie, Bea Miller and her husband,
Buddy, and Casey Porter; several great-nieces; two sisters-in-law, Betty Bryant
and Maureen Porter.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of
Harold E. Bryant. His service to Columbus, Georgia and his country shall long
be remembered. Let a copy of this resolution be presented to Cynthia W.
Bryant.
