I. Call to orderDr. Carroll called the Columbus Board of Health to order at
1:00pm.NoneNone
II. Approval of MinutesDr. Carroll asked if there were any questions or
comments on the previous minutes received (August 26, 2009). Dr. Carroll asked
for a motion to approve the minutes. A motion was made by Mayor Wetherington,
seconded by Ms. Dozier and approved by those members present. None
III. Excused AbsencesDr. Carroll stated there is no Excused Absence for
today. NoneNone
IV. Financial ReportDr. Carroll asked Joanne Strickland to present the
financial report to the Board.
Ms. Strickland stated that the financials are on target and there are no issues.

V. Old BusinessNoneNone

VI. New BusinessDr. Carroll asked if there was any New Business. Dr. Carroll
stated there would be no October Board Meeting. The next scheduled Board
Meeting will be November 18th. NoneNone
VII. NursingDr. Carroll asked Sheila Mayfield for the Nursing Report. Ms.
Mayfield stated that the plans for the H1N1 distribution are being studied and
reviewed. Shipments of the Seasonal Flu Vaccine should arrive in September and
the H1N1 should arrive in October. The H1N1 nasal spray will be available to a
limited number of persons. Here at the Health Department the Flu Campaign will
be geared to priority groups; Pregnant Women, Children 6 months to 4 years;
High Risk ? 5 years to 18 years old. Ms. Mayfield stated there may be a short
supply of the Seasonal Vaccine but at this time it was still uncertain as to
the amount that will be received. NoneNone

IX. District Health Director?s ReportDr. Carroll asked Mr. Saidla if there were
any comments from the District Health Director?s Report on behalf of Dr.
Koppanyi who is in Atlanta today and not able to attend the Board Meeting. He
stated that the planning for the distribution of the H1N1 is continuing. Also,
there is an 8% GIA cut for the first half of the fiscal year. The meeting with
Dr. Medows that was scheduled for October 28th (the same date that the Board of
Health was scheduled to meet) had been cancelled. NoneNone
X. PIODr. Carroll asked Ms. Fair for any comments. Ms. Fair stated there would
be a press conference on September 24th at 2pm for an update on the flu and the
flu vaccine with the news media invited.
