A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Emilio M. Masciovecchio of Columbus, fondly known as ?Mac the
Mechanic,? died on December 19, 2005 at his home;
WHEREAS, Mac was the owner of Masciovecchio?s Car Care Center on Buena
Vista Road and was well known for his television appearances nationally on CNN
and the Weather Channel, locally on WCGT, as well as radio appearances on WSB
in Atlanta;
WHEREAS, when he interviewed for a position at CNN, Ted Turner met him and
hired him on the spot;
WHREAS, he served in the US Army for 23 years, including tours of duty in
Germany and Korea;
WHEREAS, Mac also taught classes at Columbus State University and often spoke
to public school students about car safety;
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy, four children, Joan E. Bell and
her husband Fred, Guido M. Masciovecchio and his wife Diane, Emilio G.
Masciovecchio and his wife Elaine and Gary A. Masciovecchio and his wife
Beverly, all of Columbus, Georgia, a brother, Joseph Maschiovecchio and his
wife Anna of Boston, Mass., two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Masciovecchio of
Waldham, Mass. and Jean Masciovecchio of Kansas City, Mo., eleven grandchildren
and ten great-grandchildren.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of
Emilio M. Masciovecchio, fondly known as ?Mac the Mechanic? in Columbus. His
service to his community and to his country will long be remembered. Let a
copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Emilio M. Masciovecchio.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
31st day of January, 2006, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
