Dr. Townsend called the Columbus Board of Health to order at 1:00pm.

Election of Officers 1. Dr. Townsend opened the floor for nominations for Board of
Health Chairman for 2016/2017 term.
2. Dr. Wise opened the floor for nominations for Board of Health Vice Chairman
for 2016/2017 term. Dr. Wise was nominated by Dr. Chhokar, seconded by Dr. Lopez and
was approved by all members present.
Dr. Chhokar was nominated by Dr. Wise, seconded by Dr. Agarwal and was
approved by all members present. None

Approval of Minutes Dr. Wise asked if there were any questions or comments on the
previous minutes received (December 2, 2015). Dr. Wise asked for a motion to approve
the minutes. A motion was made by Dr. Chhokar, seconded by Dr. Agarwal and
approved by all members present. None
District Health Director?s Report Dr. Wise called on Dr. Townsend to give the
Director?s Report;
1. GPHA will be March 22/23, 2016 in Atlanta. There will be a session for
Board of Health members; contact Carol Popwell if you are interested in
attending. (handout provided)
2. Shared article from USA Today titled; Public health gets least money, but
does most. (handout provided)
3. Shared articles on Zika virus (handouts provided)

Financial Report Dr. Wise called on Joanne Strickland to present the financial report
to the Board. Ms. Strickland presented the following;
1. Written copy of the financial report and overview for FY16 budget is
$5,677,814 with two revisions.
2. Expenses were $2,735,904 which is $288,586 more that the same time last
year, which is below target for 6 months of operation.
3. Fees collected are $677,347 which is up from same time last year by $51,142.
4. All other programs on target for 6 months of operation.

New Business Dr. Wise asked if there were any New Business;
1. Dr. Lopez shared with Board the incident in the Jonesboro area;
micro-bacteria in the jaw area
Dr. Wise asked for Dr. Lopez to contact him about writing a letter to all
licensed dentist mentioning the Public Health concern and offer
recommendations.

Program Reports Dr. Wise asked if there were any Program reports;
Pam Kirkland, PIO reported;
1. DCS brochures have been updated; working on Internship/Volunteer agreements;
new website is complete.
2. Working on the marketing for the HPV vaccine
Sheila Mayfield, County Nurse Manager reported;
1. Provided data on clients from July 1 ? December 31;
a. HD 78% - return visits 22%
2. Flu vaccine still available
3. Moving into new area this week; open for services Monday, February 1st.
Karon Bush, District Program Manager reported for Kristi Ludy, Environmental
Health County Manager;
1. Provided Environmental Health numbers from November 16 to January 15 which
included a number of permitted establishments and routine inspections.
