AN ORDINANCE

NO. ___________



An Ordinance amending the Building Code of the Consolidated Government

of Columbus, Georgia, to revise the permit fee schedule for the inspection of

all buildings, structures, or alterations to buildings or structures.



THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS HEREBY ORDAINS:



Section 1.



That City Code of Ordinances, Article III, BUILDING CODE, Sections

8-14.4, entitled Permits, be, and the same is, hereby amended by deleting

Section 8-14.4 (g) (4), entitled Fee Schedule, in its entirety, and in, lieu

thereof, include the following:



"Section 8-14.4, Permits.



"(g)" Fees.



"(4)" Fee schedule.



"For all buildings, structures, or alterations requiring a building

permit, a fee shall be paid as required at the time such permit

is issued, in accordance with the following schedule:



"a. Where the valuation does not exceed $16,000 the

permit fee shall be $50.00



"b. For valuations over $16,000, up to and including

$30,000, the permit fee shall be $50.00, plus, for each

additional thousand dollars, or fraction thereof, add $2.50



"c. For the first $30,000, the permit fee shall be $85.00

plus, for each additional thousand dollars, or fraction

thereof, add $3.00.



"d. The valuation of a residential structure shall be calculated,

per every square foot of floor area, based on a value equal

to 57% of the current International Code Council building

valuation data for residential wood frame construction.

Based on this calculation, the current rate shall be $50.00

per square foot.



The square foot rate shall be adjusted based on published

changes in the International Code Council building

valuations for residential wood frame constructions.



"e. The valuation of a commercial structure shall be calculated

based on the "Square Foot Construction Costs" per the

International Code Council Valuation Data.



"f. A plan review fee, for commercial construction shall be ?

the permit fee to be submitted with permit application,

$50.00 minimun.



"g. For the moving of any building or structure, other than a

portable building, the fee shall be $75.00.



"h. For the moving of any portable building the

fee shall be $50.00.



"i. For the demolition of any building or structure, the

fee shall be $45.00.



"j. For the issuance of any Certificate of Occupancy, the

fee shall be $30.00.





k. For the renewal of a Certificate of Qualification, Active

or Inactive, issued by the Building Contractors Examining

Board, the feel shall be $25.00.



Where any work or installation has been disapproved, the fee for a

re-inspection shall be as follows:



"l. For first (1st) occurrence there will be no charge.



"m. For subsequent occurrences the fee shall be $50.00.



Where inspections are required after hours for approved shut downs, or other

emergency needs, the fee shall be $50.00, for the first hour, plus $30.00 for

each additional hour thereafter.



Section 2.



This ordinance shall become effective July 1, 2006.



This ordinance, introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus,

Georgia held on the 13th day of June, 2006; introduced a second time at a

regular meeting of said Council held on the ____ day of ____, 2006 and adopted

at said meeting by the affirmative vote of _____ members of Council.
