SUBJECT: Lease Agreement ? CSU/Bull Creek Golf Authority
INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment
Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a five-year lease
agreement with Columbus State University (CSU) (See Lease and Attachments)
for the use of the teaching side of Bull Creek Golf Course driving range for
$16,500 and $35 per student, per class for CSU students golf classes.
Background: For several years Columbus State University has utilized Bull
Creek Golf Course for its golf team and Physical Education classes. The lease
agreement formalizes the arrangement between CSU and Bull Creek Golf
Authority.
Analysis: The CSU Golf Team will utilized the training side driving range,
golf studio and the hitting bay and will be responsible for the use/upkeep of
the interior to include the payment of all utilities, content liability
insurance as well as property and causality insurance for the duration of the
Lease.
Financial Considerations: Columbus State University (CSU) will pay $16,500 per
year for the use of the training facility for 5 years. In addition CSU students
taking golf classes will pay $35 per student, per class.
Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving this City requires Council
approval. The City Attorney has reviewed this agreement and approved as to
form.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested for the City Manager to
enter into a Lease agreement with Columbus State University.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH
COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY (CSU) TO USE THE TEACHING SIDE OF BULL CREEK GOLF
COURSE DRIVING RANGE.
WHEREAS, for several years Columbus State University has utilized Bull Creek
Golf Course for its golf team and Physical Education classes; and,
WHEREAS, the CSU Golf Team will utilized the training side driving
range, golf studio and the hitting bay and will be responsible for the
use/upkeep of the interior to include the payment of all utilities, content
liability insurance as well as property and causality insurance for the
duration of the Lease; and,
WHEREAS, CSU will pay $16,500 per year for the use of the facility for
5 years. In addition CSU students taking golf classes will pay $35 per student,
per class; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to sign a lease agreement that
furthers the educational goals of CSU.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a five year Lease
Agreement with Columbus State University (CSU) for use of the training side of
Bull Creek Golf Course for $16,500 per year for the training facility and $35
per student, per class for golf classes and driving range, golf studio and the
hitting bay and other conditions as outlined in the attached agreement.
