Project Description
This is a joint venture with Columbus Police Department, Copper Theft Task
Force and the Office of Crime Prevention. This grant will provide equipment to
officers in an effort to combat copper theft in our city. We will also
continue to work with the community to educate them on the technology available
to put them at less risk. The tools we provide from this grant will have a
significant impact on theft in our city. The grant targets copper theft but
the technology will spill over into every aspect of crime prevention when
targeting theft in our community. I believe the history of the Task Force has
already shown the impact it has had in the community. They have reduced copper
theft by 47% without spending any ?Crime Prevention? funds to date. This is a
small investment to take them to the next level and deal with the residential
problem. Their efforts have mainly been focused on the commercial and
industrial thefts because there was a system that would work to protect them.
Until now they have not had a way to attack the residential problem. This
system will combat that problem and continue to decrease the number of thefts.
I, Ricky Boren the duly authorized representative of the above named Grant
Recipient, do hereby agree to the following terms that outline the requirements
of Columbus, Georgia for organizations/agencies receiving funds from the
Columbus Office of Crime Prevention. I have been given the opportunity to ask
