CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m.

The meeting was held with the local billboard/sign companies for revisions of

the proposed billboard ordinance ? Sections 4.4.13 & 4.4.14. Jeff Hudson

stated they were here to talk about the proposed changes in the ordinance. He

was under the impression that they were here to talk about the new spacing

requirements, not multi-message billboards within 1,000 feet of residential

property. That was nothing the committee agreed to. A new committee should be

formed to address this and other issues.

Will Johnson stated that two issues should be agreed on today, center of

intersection and 1,000 feet from residential. Rick Jones was under the

impression that these issues were agreed upon last meeting.

Jeff Hudson said that 1,000 feet from someone?s home is extreme. Will stated

that the standard is 500 - 1,000 feet typically in the southeast. Jeff Hudson

stated that 500 feet from a residence would be fine with him.

Andrew Roney requested a map showing all multi-message board in Columbus and

also one showing 5,000 ft half radius to see how much room that leaves to put

other signs. For multi-message boards to be put up, static boards would have

to be taken down.

Jeff Hudson states that digital signs now should be grandfathered in.

There are six digital boards in town now.

Jeff Hudson states now that he is the only one to come to Council to fight for

his job. This group was asked to come together to agree on how many feet from

residential and 650 feet from intersections.

Scott Bell is going to give Bill Duck plans for replacing existing static

boards with a digital face.

ADJOURNMENT: 3:24 p.m.
